Hanoi City People's Council has passed a resolution on naming and adjusting the length of some roads, streets and public works in the area.
In which, the city named Nguyen Huu An street for the section from the intersection of Ton That Thuyet street at the Hanoi Women's Union (opposite District 4 People's Court) to the intersection of Duong Dinh Nghe street at the E. Power apartment building (opposite the headquarters of the Customs Department).
This street is 830m long, 25m wide (road surface 15m; sidewalks on each side 5m).
Asphalt roads, sidewalks, urban green trees and synchronous lighting, belonging to Cau Giay ward. The street passes through the Ministry of Home Affairs, Hanoi Women's Union, Viettel Group Headquarters, Ward Health Station.
The population is about 260 households and more than 1,040 people.
Mr. Nguyen Huu An (1926 - 1995), originally from Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province (now Tay Hoa Lu ward, Ninh Binh province).
In August 1945, he volunteered to participate in the Liberation Army in Yen Bai.
After the August Revolution succeeded, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party.
He was a person who participated fully in the three resistance wars for national liberation and defense of the Fatherland (Resistance war against France, resistance war against the US and Southwestern border war).
He grew up from soldier to Acting Commander of the Military Region, Director of the National Defense Academy with the rank of Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Professor of Military Science.
He was the person who directly commanded the A1 hill battle in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and the Ia Drang battle (Tay Nguyen front) in 1965 during the anti-American resistance war; Commander of the 2nd Corps participated in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, with the Corps' tanks being the first vehicles to crash down the iron gate of the Independence Palace...
He was "one of the "combat generals" who rolled around the battlefields, often assigned difficult tasks, in extremely complex and urgent situations..., a "decisive and strategic military commander" (words of General Vo Nguyen Giap).
Recognizing his great contributions, the Party and State awarded many noble awards: 1 First-class Independence Medal; 3 Military Service Orders (2 First Class, 1 Third Class); 3 Military Exploit Orders (First Class, Second Class, Third Class), Second-class Victory Medal, title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and many other noble awards.
