In early December 2025, Tri Nam Digital Transport Joint Stock Company put the public electric bicycle system into use in Hanoi, in parallel with the motorbike model that was deployed before. This is considered the next step in the process of diversifying green, environmentally friendly transportation methods in the inner city.
According to Lao Dong reporters, at many public parking lots such as the 19.8 flower garden, Le-nin Park, Cau Giay station area, Vietnam Youth Academy area... each station is currently arranged with 2 to 10 electric bicycles to serve the travel needs of the people. The parking lots are located near residential areas, crowded traffic routes or near bus transfer points, facilitating the connection of journeys.

Through the E-TNGo application, people can easily find the nearest bus station location, scan the code and rent a vehicle to move. After about 2 weeks of implementation, this model has attracted the attention of many people, especially young people, people working in the inner city area and those who regularly use public transport.
The appearance of public electric bicycles takes place in the context of Hanoi preparing to limit gasoline motorbikes. It is expected that from July 1, 2026, the City will gradually limit gasoline motorbikes according to the time limit or in some areas of Ring Road 1. Therefore, the electric bicycle model is considered by many to be one of the suitable solutions, helping people have more alternative travel options.
Sharing with Lao Dong, Ms. Phuong Thi Thuy (Hoan Kiem ward, Hanoi) said that the current public electric bicycle arrangement points are quite convenient. "Given the situation of about to limit gasoline motorbikes in the Ring Road 1, I strongly support models like this. The current rental price is also reasonable, people can completely use it, especially for short distances in the inner city," said Ms. Thuy.
Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (Hoang Mai ward, Hanoi) said that she has not directly used this model but has experienced it with friends. My friend took a bus from Ocean Park to the inner city to work, then rented an electric bicycle to move around. This way of going is quite convenient, especially for those who cannot afford to buy electric vehicles or do not have a place to park electric vehicles when starting to ban gasoline motorbikes, Ms. Hoa shared.

According to Ms. Hoa, in the context of Hanoi being under great pressure from fine dust pollution caused by traffic, the use of electric bicycles will contribute to reducing emissions to the environment. The rental price is not too high. Normally, taking a motorbike taxi for about 10 minutes costs more than 15,000 VND, while electric bicycles allow proactive vehicle operation. However, if used regularly at the current price, it will still be high for some people.
Currently, the applied public electric bicycle rental price is 10,000 VND for 15 minutes and 20,000 VND for 30 minutes. In the first phase, 500 vehicles at 130 station locations were put into operation mainly in the Ring Road 1 area. The enterprise is also developing a roadmap to expand the network to the Ring Road 2 and Ring Road 3 areas in the coming time.
According to the plan, in the first quarter of 2026, more than 5,000 public electric bicycles are expected to be put into operation in the inner city of Hanoi. Each vehicle is expected to serve an average of 5 trips/day, equivalent to a total of 250,000 trips/day; 7.5 million trips/month and 90 million trips/year.
Mr. Do Ba Quan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tri Nam Digital Transport Joint Stock Company, said that the replication of the model aims to gradually replace motorbikes using fossil fuels in the inner city, contributing to the formation of a green, smart, zero-emission personal transport network; at the same time, promoting the development of a more efficient, comprehensive and community-friendly public transport system.
Hanoi's pilot of 500 public electric bicycles around the Ring Road 1 area is opening up a new, civilized and environmentally friendly travel option. For many people, especially young workers and those who are about to be directly affected by the regulation on limiting gasoline motorbikes from July 2026, the appearance of this model is expected to contribute to changing travel habits, towards a greener and more sustainable urban area.
