The Capital's public passenger transport system will be strengthened during the 5-day National Day holiday of September 2nd, to meet the increasing travel demand of people and tourists and limit congestion at traffic junctions.
According to the plan of the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center, from August 29 to the end of September 2, 2026, the bus network in the city will maintain operation from 4:30 AM to 10:30 PM daily.
The number of bus trips is maintained at a high level, about 17,335-17,645 trips/day. Depending on the route and time frame, buses are organized with a frequency of 5-30 minutes/trip.
For urban railways, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line is expected to operate 203 train trips/day, while the Nhon - Hanoi Station line, elevated section, operates 200 train trips/day. Two metro lines are organized to run from 5:30 am to 10 pm, with a frequency of about 10 minutes/trip according to the weekend and holiday chart.
Forecasting that the number of passengers at bus stations, train stations, and transfer points will increase during the holidays, Hanoi has prepared plans to increase vehicles to relieve passengers when necessary.
Accordingly, 20 key bus routes are arranged to be reinforced with about 100 trips. In addition to the number of vehicles operating regularly, 42 vehicles are arranged for backup at transport units, ready to be put into operation when the number of passengers increases sharply.
Increased bus routes focus on connecting with major traffic hubs such as My Dinh Bus Station, Nuoc Ngam, Giap Bat, Gia Lam and Yen Nghia.
Some routes also connect with tourist attractions chosen by people during the holidays, such as route 47A to Bat Trang pottery village and route 74 to Xuan Khanh lake area.
Transport units including Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco), Hanoi Electric Vehicle Company, Bao Yen, Lien Ninh, Newway, Ha Tay and VinBus are required to proactively mobilize vehicles, personnel, strictly implement on-duty plans and be ready to increase when required.
In addition to ensuring sufficient vehicles, transport units are required to inspect, maintain, and renovate vehicles before and during the holidays. Buses and metro trains must ensure technical conditions, cleanliness, safety, and minimize incidents during operation.
Drivers, service staff on buses and staff at stations are thoroughly trained to strictly implement regulations on communication and behavior culture; serving passengers with a polite and dedicated attitude.
The inspection of compliance with traffic safety regulations is also strengthened. Acts such as driving vehicles when in the body with alcohol concentration, using phones or electronic devices while driving, smoking on vehicles... will be inspected and handled according to regulations.
At stations and on metro trains, security, safety, fire prevention and fighting are strengthened. Hotlines to support passengers are maintained to receive and promptly handle feedback during the holidays.
The Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center requests transport units to proactively monitor passenger situations, promptly adjust and increase vehicles when needs arise, contributing to ensuring the safe and convenient travel of people and tourists during the National Day of September 2nd.
