During the 3-day Lunar New Year holiday of Binh Ngo (from February 14 to February 16, i.e., December 27–29 of the lunar calendar), the Traffic Police force of Hanoi City Police handled 1,059 violations, fined 3.79 billion VND.
According to statistics, during the above period, Hanoi city recorded 4 traffic accidents, causing 2 deaths and 6 injuries. Compared to the immediately preceding period, the number of accidents decreased by 2 cases, a decrease of 2 deaths; compared to the same period last year, a decrease of 7 cases, a decrease of 5 deaths and a decrease of 1 injury.
Also during the 3 days of Tet holiday, the traffic police force throughout Hanoi City revoked 18 driver's licenses, deducted points from 142 driver's licenses. The main violations included 508 cases of alcohol concentration violations, 14 cases of speeding, 160 cases of not wearing helmets, and 170 cases of stopping and parking in violation of regulations.
Implementing the direction of the Traffic Police Department, on the evening of February 17 (as of 0:15 on February 18), the Traffic Police force of Hanoi City Police continued to control nearly 6,000 vehicles, handling 118 violations, with an estimated fine of more than 603 million VND. On February 17 alone (the 1st day of Binh Ngo Tet), 249 cases of alcohol concentration violations were recorded.
On the morning of February 18, representatives of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that on the 1st day of Tet, traffic police nationwide recorded nearly 2,000 cases of drivers violating alcohol concentration. At the same time, 1 traffic accident related to alcohol concentration occurred nationwide, injuring 2 people in Hai Phong.
Representatives of the Traffic Police Department said that in the last 3 days of the Tet holiday, functional forces will focus on controlling and strictly handling passenger transport business vehicles, especially acts such as: carrying more people than prescribed, carrying goods in the passenger compartment or on the roof of the vehicle, carrying oversized and overloaded goods, speeding...
The Traffic Police Department affirmed that the simultaneous alcohol concentration test is implemented throughout the Tet holiday, not just on the 1st day. At the same time, functional forces request people to proactively provide information about passenger car violations through the fanpage, VNeTraffic application or the hotline of the Traffic Police Department to promptly verify, handle, and ensure traffic safety after Tet.
