After 12 years since the start of construction, 4 main roads in Thu Thiem New Urban Area (HCMC) have simultaneously resumed construction immediately after completing site clearance. This key transport infrastructure system is aiming to complete it all in 2026.

Recording the reality at the construction site, contractors are mobilizing maximum manpower and equipment to deploy many items at the same time. This backbone infrastructure project includes 4 main roads: Tran Bach Dang (R1), To Huu (R2), Nguyen Thien Thanh (R3) and Bui Thien Ngo (R4). The entire route has a total length of about 12 km with a total investment of about 8,256 billion VND.

On Tran Bach Dang street (R1), as soon as receiving the clean site, the construction unit proceeded to clear the site and deploy bored piles. About 500 m away in the direction of Ba Son bridge, bridge No. 6 - an item that had to be temporarily stopped for more than a decade - has also become bustling again with continuous pile drilling and bridge foundation work.

In the area opposite the planned location of the Saigon River pedestrian bridge, engineers and workers are focusing on handling concrete pile heads, preparing the roadbed to prepare for the foundation construction. According to the plan, Tran Bach Dang street is 3.4 km long, 55 m wide with a scale of 6 to 10 lanes, playing the role of connecting internal functional areas and being smooth to the end point intersecting with Tran Nao street. Currently, the Tran Bach Dang - Tran Nao intersection is also being deployed synchronously.

Located in the key infrastructure network connecting to Thu Thiem new urban area, the Luong Dinh Cua extended road project (section from Nguyen Co Thach street to Thu Thiem bridge) currently has clear ground for drilling piles. This road axis is about 3.5 km long, with a planned road boundary of 30 to 60 m.

When completed, this road will directly connect Thu Thiem New Urban Area with major external axes such as Mai Chi Tho Avenue, Hanoi Highway and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, helping to significantly reduce traffic pressure for the area.

Meanwhile, the final section of To Huu street (R2) connecting to Tran Nao street and Luong Dinh Cua street is also being urgently built. This is a central lakeside road about 3 km long, 29.2 m wide and has basically completed most of the volume. At the intersection with Mai Chi Tho avenue, the remaining items are finally being accelerated by construction units.

According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, along with other key projects on the peninsula, focusing on completing 4 main roads in 2026 will contribute to shaping a synchronous traffic network, creating strong momentum for the comprehensive development of the new urban area in the East of the city.
