In recent days, records in the Song Hanh road area in Binh Trung ward, Ho Chi Minh City show that the construction unit is urgently deploying geological survey drills along the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line.

These drill bits are being carried out to collect soil and rock samples for in-depth research on geological conditions in areas where the railway line is expected to pass through.
According to a representative from the construction unit, geological surveying is one of the first steps but plays a particularly important role for the entire project. Soil and rock samples collected from many different depths will help accurately determine the stratigraphy structure, and at the same time carefully assess the load-bearing capacity of the soil foundation.

This will be a core scientific data source and a solid foundation to serve the design and construction of the railway line later. To ensure a complete and detailed assessment of geological conditions along the entire line, each drill bit is carried out with a depth ranging from 70m to 80m with a deployment time of 2 to 3 days.
The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway project is assessed as a strategic traffic route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai city and Long Thanh International Airport.

When completed, the project will contribute to completing the urban transport network, meeting the sustainable travel needs of people and significantly shortening travel time from Long Thanh International Airport to the central area of Ho Chi Minh City.
The starting point of the route connects directly to Thu Thiem station in Ho Chi Minh City and the ending point is at Cam Duong depot in Dong Nai city. The route will cut through the Binh Trung and Long Truong areas of Ho Chi Minh City and continue through Nhon Trach, Long Thanh, Long Phuoc, Xuan Que, Xuan Duong localities of Dong Nai city.

In terms of scale, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway project has a total length of about 47.7km, of which the section running through Ho Chi Minh City is 11.5km long and the section running through Dong Nai city is 36.2km long.
This traffic route is expected to be built with a total of 19 stations, including 2 underground stations and 17 elevated stations. The total expected investment for this super project is about 17,5 trillion VND.

The investor is actively completing the feasibility study report and related legal procedures to implement the project according to the plan. According to the set roadmap, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line will be started on June 30, 2026 and the entire system strives to be completed and put into operation by 2030.
