On January 17, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dieu - Head of the Economic Department of Dong Loc commune - said that on the afternoon of January 16, after receiving information reflecting that someone threw many dead civets on the road, near the garbage collection site in Anh Hung village, Dong Loc commune officials came to inspect.
However, during the inspection process, the person who threw the dead civets onto the road collected them and took them to bury.
According to Mr. Dieu, through initial verification, there were about 20 dead civets thrown on the road next to a small garbage collection site. These civets belonged to a commercial civet farm owner in Anh Hung village.
Mr. Dieu said that through verification, the farm owner explained that they temporarily gathered them at the landfill, then took them to landfill, not intentionally throwing them onto the road to cause environmental pollution.
We will invite the owner of that civet farm to remind and request a commitment that if the civets continue to die, they must be destroyed and buried to ensure that they are not thrown onto the road, causing environmental pollution and the risk of spreading diseases," Mr. Dieu shared.
Previously, on January 16, a Facebook account posted a video with content of outrage when someone threw many dead civets with a foul odor on the road, next to the water source area at Anh Hung Lake, causing environmental pollution.
This person hopes that functional agencies will get involved in verifying, clarifying and strictly handling violators who lack awareness in environmental protection.
