According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, currently due to the lack of a centralized treatment system, most of the wastewater from restaurants and hotels in Thien Cam Tourist Area is dumped directly into deep holes near the residential area of Tran Phu village.
This affected the environment, the water gave off a foul smell, and the people of Tran Phu village were upset.
"The sun is a foul smell that flies into the house, which is very unpleasant. We suggest that we soon complete the centralized wastewater treatment system to avoid environmental pollution, affecting the lives of our people," a woman shared.
Through observation, the drainage ditch system in this tourist area is degraded, the water holes are covered with tarpaulins but the water still seepes into the soil and overflows around.
On August 23, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vo Ta Nhan - Chairman of Thien Cam Commune People's Committee - said that in 2022, Ha Tinh province approved the Nam Thien Cam Tourist Area infrastructure project worth more than 176 billion VND, including a centralized wastewater treatment system worth 15 billion VND.
The project is currently implemented by the Agricultural and Civil Works Project Management Board.
While waiting for the project to be completed and put into operation, the Thien Cam Tourist Area Management Board has built a biogas tank made of HPDE tarpaulin, two bio lakes about 500m2 wide, added biological products and Clorin to reduce the smell.
However, during peak season, the temporary system is still overloaded, causing local pollution.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Cam commune also shared that he hopes the wastewater treatment system project in Thien Cam Tourist Area will be completed soon to overcome the untreated wastewater situation, limiting the impact on people and the environment.
A leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh said that the Department has required hotels and restaurants with a discharge of over 50m3/day to build a standard treatment system before discharging into the common ditch, and small-scale establishments must complete environmental registration, otherwise they will be fined.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Thien Cam tourist area and surrounding areas currently have 37 accommodation establishments, including 19 hotels, 12 motels, 6 homestays and dozens of restaurants and eateries.
Of which, 8 accommodation establishments and 15 restaurants are discharging waste directly into the ditch system leading to the Sen buoy area. This is the end point that has been planned to build a treatment plant but has not been completed yet.
