Van Ninh - Cam Lo accelerates
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on May 11, Mr. Mai Quy Khanh - Deputy Head of Project Management Department 4, Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that the North - South expressway project, Van Ninh - Cam Lo section, has now achieved important progress, in which the section through Quang Binh alone has completed 100% of site clearance, and the packages have been constructed simultaneously.
According to the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, the Van Ninh - Cam Lo project has a total length of 65.54km, passing through Quang Binh 33.017km and Quang Tri 32.53km, invested by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board. Currently, the entire site has been handed over, of which Quang Binh has handed over 100% (33.017km). However, the items of the residential access road still have 8.5km that have not been handed over due to arising after the start of construction.

Mr. Khanh informed that the XL1 and XL2 construction packages are being implemented simultaneously with a total of 53 teams, mobilizing nearly 1,500 workers, engineers, and hundreds of equipment and machinery. The output to date has reached more than 85.5% of the contract value. Labor safety, quality, and environmental sanitation are assessed to be guaranteed.
On the entire route, we have been constructing 30 bridges, and many items such as culverts, underpasses for people, road foundations, and roadbed excavation have also been accelerated. For Quang Binh province, all 13 bridges, 17 underpasses and hundreds of culverts of all kinds are being urgently completed," said Mr. Khanh.
In addition, the construction of a resettlement area in Quang Binh, including 4 areas, with a total area of nearly 9 hectares serving 95 households, has also been completed, contributing to stabilizing the lives of people affected by the project. The related technical infrastructure has also been relocated to 44/44 locations.
Hurry to finish on time
Meanwhile, the Bung - Van Ninh Expressway Project (more than 48km long, total investment of more than VND 9,300 billion) was basically completed after more than 2 years of construction and put into operation at the end of April 2025.
As for the Vung Ang - Bung Project (more than 55km long), informing Lao Dong Newspaper, Project Management Board 6 said that more than 90% of the construction value has been completed. The route passes through Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces, of which Quang Binh accounts for more than 42km. The project has 2 main packages, including 33 bridges, 1 tunnel through Deo But mountain, over 1.5km long, 406 culverts and 37 underpasses for people.
Currently, 40 construction teams with more than 1,200 workers and 620 equipment are being mobilized. The bridge, culvert, roadbed, and underpass items are basically completed. Deo But tunnel alone has opened both branches, reaching more than 99% of the tunnel excavation volume. Some remaining items such as road surfaces, railings, and safety fences are being accelerated to ensure progress.

Regarding difficulties, Project Management Board 6 said that there are still some households that have not handed over the site, affecting the construction of fences, service roads, and against- Pressure platforms. Specifically, in Quang Trach district, there are still 12 households and in Ba Don town, there are still 29 households that have not been relocated, causing delays in the construction of auxiliary items.
As of early May 2025, the project has disbursed all capital for the years 2022-2024, reaching nearly VND 8,200 billion. The project management board requested the locality to urgently complete site clearance, ensuring the route is open to traffic by mid-2025 as planned.
The Van Ninh - Cam Lo and Vung Ang - Bung expressways are expected to be completed by the end of June 2025.
It is expected that when completed, the 3 North - South expressway projects through Quang Binh will create a great driving force to promote regional connectivity, expand space for economic, social, defense and security development for the locality and the North Central region.
