The Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass construction project (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) started in October 2022. The project has a total investment of 778 billion VND, invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
This is the 5th underpass in the capital built since 2009, after Kim Lien, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan, and Le Van Luong tunnels.
Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass has a total length of tunnel and approach road of 890m in the direction of Ring Road 2.5, of which the closed tunnel is 140m long, the open tunnel is 320m long. The section through the tunnel has 2 lanes each way, 3.5m wide/lane, the section outside the tunnel has 3 lanes each way, 3.5m wide/lane.
According to the representative of the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, after more than 2 years of construction, the project has now reached more than 60% of its volume.
The project has completed the access road in Dinh Cong area, and is focusing on constructing the tunnel between the intersection and the access road in Kim Dong street area.
"Recently, the project has completed the construction of the main tunnel sections H3B, H4B... located on Giai Phong Street in the direction of the inner city to Ngoc Hoi. In the near future, the project will proceed with the construction of tunnel sections from H2B to H5B located on Giai Phong Street in the direction of Ngoc Hoi - inner city" - a representative of the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said.
The representative of the investor said that the project no longer has great difficulties in terms of premises. The project is being implemented on schedule, expected to be completed in 2025.
When completed, the underpass will help overcome traffic congestion between Ring Road 2.5 and Giai Phong Street, gradually completing the Ring Road 2.5 route according to the approved plan, ensuring smooth traffic through Giap Bat freight station.
