The Ngoc Hoi bridge project and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge will start construction on August 19, 2025.
The project includes 5 component projects, including 3 site clearance (GPMB) projects in 5 communes: Thanh Tri, Nam Phu and Bat Trang (Hanoi city); Van Giang and Phung Cong (Hung Yen province) and 2 construction investment projects: Construction of a parallel road system in Hanoi and Hung Yen; construction of Ngoc Hoi bridge and access roads at both ends of the bridge.
This is a group A project, about 7.5km long (Hanoi city 5.2km, Hung Yen province 2.3km), of which the main bridge crosses the Red River 680m long. The starting point connects with the end point of the Huu Hong 3.5 dike Ring Road in Thanh Tri commune, the end point connects with the Ta Hong 3.5 dike Ring Road in Van Giang commune, Hung Yen province.
The project has a total investment of about 11,844 billion VND.
Regarding the volume of land acquisition, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the total land acquisition area is about 53.77ha, with an expected 758 land acquisition plans (Thanh Tri commune has 193 agricultural land plans, 3 residential land plans; Nam Phu commune has 2 households with leased land; Bat Trang commune has 348 agricultural land plans; Phung Cong commune has 2 leased land plans; Van Giang commune has 200 agricultural land plans, 10 residential land plans).
It is expected that the entire site clearance work will be completed in June 2026.
For Component Project 2 (parallel road): Hanoi People's Committee has approved the investment phasing policy (according to the investment phasing plan for phase 1 on the Ta Hong bank).
Currently, the Project Management Board is completing the Project Feasibility Study Report to submit to the Department of Construction for appraisal and continuing to review and update the Red River Landscape Axis Project, agreeing with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to update phase 2 of investment on the Huu Hong bank to adjust Component Project 2.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in mid-December 2025, at the Ngoc Hoi bridge construction site, machinery, barges, ships, construction materials... are gathered to serve the construction work.
Currently, contractors (Thai Binh Duong Company, Trung Chinh, VNVC E&C, Deo Ca) are implementing the construction of bored piles for the two main towers, and at the same time clearing the site of the 1km section in Van Giang commune that has been handed over, expected to complete 40 bored piles in March 2026.
The Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that some progress road items need to be handed over as soon as December 2025 to serve the construction of auxiliary works, constructing the structure under the approach bridge for the public land area: Riverbank land from pillar P33 to pillar P38 (Nam Phu commune); from pillar P0 to pillar P15 (Thanh Tri commune), especially for the area of the road used for public duties along the route; the area of the construction site outside the boundary to build camps and gatherings ( Bat Trang).
According to the investor's representative, the construction period according to the contract is 30 months. Ngoc Hoi Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
