Me So Bridge belongs to the Public Investment Sub-project in Component Project 3: Investment in the construction of expressways under the public-private partnership method - Investment project to build Ring Road 4 in Hanoi Capital Region.
The project is about 2.024km long, crossing Huu Hong and Ta Hong dykes, starting at Hong Van commune (Hanoi); ending at Me So commune (Hung Yen).
According to the design, the cross-section of Me So bridge is 24.5 m wide, designed with 4 lanes for motor vehicles and arranged on each side of a lane for motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles.
The prestressed reinforced concrete bridge includes 5 canals crossing the Huu Hong and Red rivers (155m main span), Super T approach spans, and canals crossing the dykes (90m main span).
The cost of building Me So bridge is about 1,800 billion VND.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in mid-December 2025, at the Me So bridge construction site, machinery, barges, ships, construction materials... are gathered to serve the construction work.
The bustling construction site is taking place on the banks of the Red River in Me So commune (Hung Yen province), dozens of workers are making steel cages to serve the construction of bored piles for the bridge foundation.

Regarding the implementation of the Me So bridge project across the Red River, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project enterprise - the investor is implementing (Hanoi Ring Road 4 Expressway Joint Stock Company) the construction of bored piles for the approach bridge (23 piles).
Regarding difficulties and problems, the Project Management Board said that the area outside the dike in Me So commune, Hung Yen province has not been completed with a length of about 0.2km, an area of 1.0ha that needs to be handed over in December 2025 to construct the sections of the cantilever bridge over the river to ensure the completion of bored piles and pillars before the 2026 flood season to ensure a construction progress of 30 months (the first quarter of 2028).
According to the direction of Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the investment project to build the Ring Road 4 in the Hanoi Capital Region, by December 31 at the latest, localities must complete site clearance to hand over to the construction unit.
The Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Ring Road 4 project in the Capital Region emphasized that, along with the implementation of the Ring Road 4, localities including Hanoi, Hung Yen and Bac Ninh must also soon complete the construction of bridges to connect the route, including Hong Ha and Me So bridges across the Red River, Hoai Thuong bridge across the Duong River.

When completed, bridges such as Me So and Hong Ha on Ring Road 4 will strengthen inter-regional connectivity, shorten travel time between Hanoi and Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Phu Tho provinces, and reduce the load on existing bridges such as Thanh Tri, Vinh Tuy, and Thang Long. The new bridge system is also closely linked to belt and expressway routes, contributing to the formation of a synchronous traffic network.
For the socio-economy, bridges open up opportunities to promote trade, develop new industrial parks and urban areas, reduce logistics costs, and increase competitiveness for businesses. People in riverside provinces benefit from modern infrastructure and more convenient transportation.
In particular, the construction of Red River overpasses is also meaningful in implementing the planning to expand the capital, creating conditions for population expansion, developing satellite cities, shaping Hanoi into a modern, multipolar city with sustainable development.
