More than 100 taxi drivers in Ca Mau stop protesting the company

Ca Mau - More than 100 drivers of an electric taxi company stopped working after the director banged on the table and said "disband", the company has spoken up to explain.

Drivers lose benefits?

On the first day of January 2025, many drivers of Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company (CP) reported that this unit increased the number of electric taxis while the number of customers did not increase. The company did not reduce the revenue threshold for drivers, leading to drivers not achieving revenue and having to receive low salaries.

Drivers are upset because they believe the company is forcing them to pay 50% of the charging fee between 6am and 10pm instead of free as before. Low income plus charging costs make it difficult for drivers to make ends meet. In addition, they are under a lot of other pressure.

By January 2, more than 100 drivers of this company had stopped working. On the same day, Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company issued a press release to provide clarification.

According to the announcement, on December 24, the company received a notice from the battery charging service provider about changing the policy of free battery charging for all electric cars until June 30, 2027. According to the new policy, it will be 100% free if charging between 10pm and 6am the next morning, and 50% free during the remaining hours.

Immediately after the announcement, on December 30, 2024, the Board of Directors of Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company announced a support of 1 million VND/month for each vehicle, this amount will be added to the monthly driver's salary. Vehicles charging from 10pm to 6am will be 100% free and a 50% fee will be applied to vehicles charging outside the above time frame.

The battery charging fee that the driver must pay will be deducted from the monthly salary after the charging service provider sends a detailed list of each vehicle for the driver to check, effective from January 1, 2025.

Just "misleading"

According to the company's announcement, after the incident of many drivers simultaneously stopping working, Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company has gathered information and determined that driver Tran Vu Em, after quitting his job at the company, went to Ho Chi Minh City to rent a contract car through an intermediary to rent a car from another company with the same blue color as Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company's car.

The company emphasized that this has caused misunderstandings for many customers in Ca Mau province who use the company's services.

The unit reported the incident to the company's partner and filed a complaint with the police to investigate and clarify the act of inciting, disturbing public order, taking advantage of the company's image for personal gain, causing damage to the company's image; reported the incident to the unit cooperating with Bao Gia Company to recover the contract vehicle that the intermediary rented to driver Tran Vu Em.

In the case of Mr. Ho Hoang Anh - Director of the Company, who banged on the table and made inappropriate statements - the company's leadership worked with him and reprimanded him, drawing lessons from his conversations with subordinates.

Regarding revenue, maintenance regulations, maintenance, profit sharing, and vehicle body insurance, before drivers enter the company to cooperate, the company has communicated all policy-related content so that drivers understand and sign a cooperation contract with the company.

The company affirms that there is no pressure or coercion on drivers as some media channels have quoted drivers. Cooperation and policies are transparent and public.
