On the afternoon of August 1, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dinh Phuc Hanh - Chairman of Nam Xe Commune People's Committee, Lao Cai Province - confirmed a serious landslide on National Highway 279, the section passing through the commune.
According to the Chairman of Nam Xe Commune People's Committee, due to heavy rain on the night of July 31 and the morning of August 1, a landslide appeared at Km160+500 on National Highway 279, causing traffic congestion in the direction of Lao Cai - Lai Chau.
"The estimated amount of landslides is about more than 1,000m3. The construction unit is clearing the road. It is expected that the road will be opened to traffic again this afternoon," Mr. Dinh Phuc Hanh added.
Currently, Nam Xe Commune Police have stretched ropes, temporarily stopped vehicles from traveling through the landslide area to ensure safety and create conditions for the construction unit to bring machinery to the scene to fix the problem.
