On December 14, Mr. Ngo Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province - visited and gave support to households whose houses were damaged by rain and tornadoes in Nga Nam town.
Visiting the households whose houses were damaged, the leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province and the leaders of the Nga Nam Town Party Committee and People's Committee shared the difficulties and losses that the families were facing and at the same time awarded 5 million VND in support to each household whose house was completely collapsed and 2 million VND to households whose houses had their roofs blown off. The total amount of support was 173 million VND (64 households). This is a source of funding drawn from the Provincial Relief Fund to encourage families to soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
Local leaders will carry out procedures to support affected families with additional support from the Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Fund with an expected support level of 20 - 40 million VND/case, depending on the level of damage.
As reported by Lao Dong, on December 13, in My Quoi and My Binh communes (Nga Nam town), heavy rain and tornadoes occurred, completely destroying 15 houses and blowing off the roofs of 49 houses. The total estimated property damage was over 2.6 billion VND.
Leaders of the City Party Committee and People's Committee of Nga Nam Town promptly went to the scene to visit, encourage and support households in difficult circumstances, poor households, near-poor households and policy families to stabilize their lives. Mobilizing forces promptly to support people to quickly repair collapsed and damaged houses. Local authorities have arranged and temporarily covered some houses with damaged roofs for people to temporarily stay, and completely damaged houses have been temporarily arranged to stay with relatives.
