Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen - a retired teacher in Dong Ngac ward (Hanoi) - said that this month she received more than 12 million VND in pension, an increase of more than 1 million VND compared to the previous month.
The additional money I mainly spend on buying medicine and daily expenses. The increase is not too large but also helps me reduce pressure. Especially for the elderly, there is no longer a source of income, so whatever money I add is precious" - Ms. Uyen said.
Mr. Phung Duc Hung (71 years old, Bac Ninh) said he received the money on schedule.
Having an additional amount to cover living expenses is encouraging. The important thing is that the policy is still being adjusted, and retirees feel concerned," Mr. Hung shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Sau (65 years old, Bac Ninh) also said that the additional pension will be used for buying medicine and periodic health check-ups.
According to Vietnam Social Security, the payment was made from the beginning of July according to Decree No. 162/2026/ND-CP of the Government.
As of July 3, 2026, Vietnam Social Security has paid to more than 3.55 million people, with a total amount of 24,320 billion VND.
Of which, more than 3.32 million people received through personal accounts, accounting for more than 93% of the total number of beneficiaries, with an amount of 22,924 billion VND. About 226,000 people received in cash, with a total amount of 1,395 billion VND.
Total expenditure in July increased by 8.08%, equivalent to an increase of 1,818 billion VND compared to June 2026. This is the result of adjusting to increase pensions by 8%, social insurance allowances and monthly allowances.
To ensure timely payment, Vietnam Social Security has reviewed the list of beneficiaries, updated the new benefit level and coordinated with banks to check account information. For cash recipients, localities arrange funds and organize payment according to plan.
