On the afternoon of April 29, at Km16+200 of component project 2 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway (section intersecting with the HCMC - Long Thanh, Dau Giay expressway), the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Works (HCMC People's Committee) coordinated with Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Construction) and related units to organize the opening ceremony (phase 1) of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project phase 1.

This opened expressway section has its starting point at the intersection with the HCMC - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway in Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province and its ending point at the intersection with National Highway 56, in Tam Long ward, HCMC, more than 37km long.
In the first phase, this expressway section only allows cars under 9 seats to operate at a maximum speed of 80 km/h and has not yet organized toll collection.
Specifically at Km18+140, direction Vung Tau - Bien Hoa, a toll booth (2 lanes) is arranged to serve the recording of input vehicle signals and toll calculation for the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.

Regarding the traffic organization plan, in the direction from Dong Nai to Vung Tau, vehicles moving on National Highway 51 or from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway will turn into Bung Mon street, travel about 1 km, then merge into the right service road to get to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway at Km16+275.
In the opposite direction, from Vung Tau to Dong Nai, vehicles can enter the expressway from the intersection of National Highway 56 (Km53+700) or the intersection of DT. 992 (Km43+800). When moving to Km17+650, vehicles turn right to separate from the expressway, merge into connecting branches to go to Dau Giay or the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh, Deputy Director of the Traffic Works Project Management Board (Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee) said that the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway is one of the key traffic infrastructure projects of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, expected for many years. When completed, the project will not only meet the expectations of the two localities but also create a major boost for socio-economic development throughout the region.
Mr. Trinh emphasized that to date, the project fully meets the conditions for putting phase 1 into operation for the section from Km16+200 to Km53+700, with a total length of about 37.5 km, belonging to component projects 2 and 3. The project also opens up a new development space for the entire region, creating motivation to promote logistics, industry and urbanization, gradually completing a synchronous technical infrastructure system, reducing the load on National Highway 51.
