On September 17, the Hue City Department of Health announced that it had just held a conference to deploy the plan "Building a drug-free commune/ward" for the period 2025 - 2030 and assigned a drug prevention and control working committee for the first 9 months of 2025 of the industry.
According to the plan, the health sector sets a target: 100% of health facilities are drug-free, strictly manage precursors, addictive drugs and psychological guidance; 100% of cases of drug addiction determination are in accordance with regulations; strengthen inter-sectoral coordination between police, health, and the government, and promote training of health workers in their expertise.
The conference also heard reports and presentations from CDC Hue, Mental Hospital and City Police on Methadone treatment, coordination in handling people with psychosis due to drug use, and interdisciplinary coordination in drug prevention and control.
In addition to the achieved results, the health sector also faces many difficulties such as changes in the government model, lack of specialized human resources, equipment that does not meet requirements, difficulties in screening and treatment, patients not complying with the regimen or violating the law.
Delegates proposed that the Ministry of Health and related units soon issue specific professional guidelines, standardize medical records, increase training, and support funding for grassroots renovation, in order to effectively implement the goal of building drug-free communes and wards.
