In the 3 years from 2021 to 2024, Hung Yen made a strong impression when reducing the poverty rate of the whole province from 2.55% (equivalent to 10,368 households) in 2021 to 0.44% (1,...794 households) by the end of 2024.
This achievement helps the province complete two years ahead of schedule the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, as well as the Provincial Party Committee's resolutions on job development and sustainable poverty reduction.
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, the results achieved reflect the synchronous efforts in implementing social security policies, supporting livelihoods and building new rural areas. All poor and near-poor households have been supported to participate in health insurance, helped build new or repair houses and access access clean domestic water. The rate of households with hygienic wastewater is 86.72%. malnutrition in children under 5 years old has also decreased significantly, with 8.1% being underweight and 16.2% having a low heart rate.
Vocational training and job creation are considered the foundation for helping people to rise up by themselves. 100% of workers from poor, near-poor households and newly escaped poverty households in need are supported with vocational training, counseling and job connections. Coordination between departments, branches and periodic monitoring mechanisms ensures that the poverty reduction process is sustainable and does not return to poverty.
In parallel with the support policy from the Central Government, Hung Yen also implements many specific mechanisms such as issuing health insurance cards, social allowances for people with disabilities, lonely elderly people, and support for cremation costs. The province pays special attention to developing livelihood and cooperative models - solutions to help people escape poverty through their own labor.
Cooperative models have become a bridge between farmers and the market, helping people be more autonomous in production, while actively contributing to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction. Hung Yen's success shows that to effectively reduce poverty, it is necessary to coordinate between all levels of government, the political system and the people, along with a transparent monitoring mechanism and livelihood development based on local advantages.
The results achieved in the past three years have made Hung Yen a bright spot in the Northern Delta in comprehensive poverty reduction, aiming to improve the quality of life and build increasingly rich and beautiful rural areas.
