On the morning of September 4, Mr. Phan Quang Cuong - Chairman of Yen Hoa Commune People's Committee - said that the locality has coordinated with officers and soldiers of Regiment 841 (under the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command) to organize the collection and cleaning of the environment in the beach area of My Hoa village.
The operation was deployed after the locality discovered purple clam shells drifting ashore in large numbers by sea waves.
The collection and burial of clam shells aims to contribute to ensuring environmental sanitation and preserving the landscape of the coastal area.
Mr. Bui Tuan Son - Head of Ha Tinh Fisheries Sub-Department - said that on the afternoon of September 3, the unit sent professional staff to Yen Hoa commune beach to take samples of dead purple clams drifting ashore to determine the cause.
However, at the time of inspection, there were only clam shells left on the beach, no intestines, so samples could not be taken yet.
We are monitoring. If there are more dead clams drifting ashore, we will take samples to send for analysis to determine the cause," Mr. Son said.
According to Mr. Son, through working with the Yen Hoa commune government, the phenomenon of clam shells drifting ashore has been recorded in this locality in previous years.
Previously, on the morning of September 3rd, Lao Dong Newspaper published information reflecting the situation of purple clam shells drifting to the coast of Yen Hoa commune in thick layers, stretching for many kilometers.
