On the evening of June 22, in Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the US Embassy in Vietnam to organize the opening ceremony of the Pacific Partnership - Pacific Friends program 2026 (PP-PF 26).
PP-PF 26 officially takes place from June 22 to July 6, 2026 in many communes and wards in Quang Tri province.
The Pacific Partnership Program is the largest multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster response activity, annually organized by the US Navy in the Indo-Pacific region. The program aims to strengthen regional coordination capacity, disaster response, contributing to strengthening security, stability and sustainable friendship.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Friends program is a series of humanitarian and capacity building activities co-organized by the US Army Command in the Pacific and the 18th Battlefield Military Medical Command, focusing on the fields of humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, engineering, health and disaster management.
In 2026, the two programs will be combined to be organized in Quang Tri with the goal of taking advantage of resources to improve the capacity to respond to natural disasters, community health and disease prevention of agencies and units in the province.
The program also contributes to strengthening international cooperation, humanitarian assistance, people-to-people exchanges, tightening friendly relations between Vietnam and the US and partner countries in the region; and promoting the image of Quang Tri as a peaceful and cooperative destination.
Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized that the program has humanitarian, medical, educational and disaster response significance, while strengthening international cooperation, tightening Vietnam-US friendship and spreading values of peace and sustainable development. Quang Tri province is committed to creating favorable conditions for activities to take place safely, effectively and successfully, contributing to improving community capacity.

US Acting Navy Minister Hung Cao emphasized the humanitarian and cooperative value of the program in Quang Tri. The program enhances disaster response capacity, health, education and community development, while strengthening the trust and friendship between countries, creating a foundation for sustainable and safe cooperation for the Indo-Pacific region.

Participating in the program, the US side has about 300 military personnel, including construction forces, medical experts, incident control command system experts, small unmanned aerial vehicle application experts, bomb disposal personnel and reporters.
