Khanh Hoa - Food trading through social networks is increasingly popular, posing challenges in food safety management, posing potential risks to users' health.

On April 18, information from the inter-sectoral Steering Committee for Food Safety of Khanh Hoa province said that in the first quarter of 2026, the whole province established 72 inspection teams, conducting inspections of 2,914 food production and business establishments.

The results showed that 2,849 establishments met the requirements, 64 establishments violated and 1 establishment is awaiting conclusions. Functional agencies have fined 32 cases with a total amount of more than 408 million VND.

Since the beginning of the year, the locality has not recorded any food poisoning cases. Currently, 64 communes and wards have established Inter-sectoral Steering Committees on food safety, contributing to consolidating the grassroots management network.

Stepping into the second quarter of 2026, Khanh Hoa province launched the "Mess of Action for Food Safety" with a peak period from April 15 to May 15.

During this time, departments, branches and related units will strengthen propaganda, inspection, and handling to ensure food safety, especially in the field of food services and street food.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thoan - Deputy Director of the Department of Health, representative of the inter-sectoral Steering Committee for Food Safety of Khanh Hoa province, the need to use safe food is essential and legitimate for the people.

However, in reality, there are still many inadequacies, the risk of food poisoning tends to become complicated, especially in collective kitchens in businesses, schools and from street food.

One of the emerging issues today is the rapid development of e-commerce and food advertising activities on digital platforms and social networks. These forms of business are difficult to control and pose a risk of food insecurity.

According to functional agencies, a part of consumers are still not fully aware of the importance of choosing safe food. Prioritizing the purchase of cheap, unclear-sourced goods, such as from street vendors or through social networks, increases the risk of food poisoning.

Functional sectors recommend that people choose food at reputable establishments with clear brands and origins such as supermarkets or stores with specific addresses.

During the peak period, functional forces of Khanh Hoa province will focus on inspecting large-scale food production, processing, and business establishments; collective kitchens in industrial parks, schools; establishments providing ready-to-eat meals and street food business points.

Along with that, violations and handling results will be publicized in the mass media to increase deterrence and promptly warn the community.
