On May 13, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with departments, branches, localities and Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest One Member State Limited Company (Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company) to deploy urgent solutions to prevent illegal swiftlet hunting in the area.
Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang chaired the meeting. According to reports from relevant units, Khanh Hoa province has established 51 rapid response teams to prevent bird hunting.
However, the handling of violations in some localities is still not drastic, leading to the re-occurrence of swiftlet hunting in many areas.
From the beginning of 2026 to now, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company has discovered 52 cases of illegal swiftlet hunting, seizing 119 nets with a total length of more than 10,000m.
Hot spots were recorded in Ninh Hoa ward, Tan Dinh commune, Hoa Tri, Hoa Thang and areas along lakes, lakes, and empty fields in Khanh Hoa province.
According to the assessment of functional agencies, illegal hunting not only reduces the population of natural swallows but also directly affects the output of island swallows, ecosystems and the national brand "Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest".
At the meeting, leaders of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested to urgently establish an inter-sectoral team to inspect the implementation at the grassroots level.
At the same time, assign specialized agencies to research and advise on proposing to include swallows in the list of animals that need to be conserved in order to increase deterrence against violations.
In addition, the province also agreed to establish a 24/7 hotline to receive denunciations and request restaurants and purchasing establishments to sign commitments not to consume wild salanganes.
