On February 24, the People's Committee of Tan Gianh commune (Quang Tri province) organized a commendation and unexpected reward for a father and son who bravely rescued many people in the boat capsizing on the Gianh River that occurred on February 19.
Previously, at about 11:30 am on February 19, a boat carrying 7 people from the same family (residing in Tuyen Binh commune, Quang Tri province) when moving on the Gianh River suddenly capsized, causing the victims to fall into the river.
Discovering the incident, Mr. Cao Huu Tinh and his son Cao Hoang An Duc, residing in Truong Long village, Tan Gianh commune, quickly approached the scene and rescued 5 people and brought them ashore.
Among these, 2 victims died, 3 were rescued alive. The remaining 2 people went missing and their bodies were later found by functional forces.
To promptly recognize the noble gesture, Tan Gianh Commune People's Committee decided to commend and reward 2 citizens who bravely rescued drowning people; and at the same time award certificates of merit to spread the spirit of mutual affection in the community.
Representatives of the leadership of Tan Gianh Commune People's Committee said that the actions of Mr. Cao Huu Tinh and his son show the spirit of responsibility and affection of the local people. The commendation aims to promptly encourage and educate the awareness of readiness to help people in need among the people.
