On January 30, some people exercising in the morning on Vi Ba street (the road to Nui Lon, Vung Tau ward, Ho Chi Minh City) reflected on the situation of being chased and attacked by wild monkeys, some people were injured and had to be hospitalized for treatment.
Ms. T.V (a victim) said that at about 6:30 am on January 30, while walking for exercise as usual, she was suddenly attacked by a wild monkey. "I was bitten quite deeply, almost to the tendons, bleeding a lot, so I had to go to the hospital to stitch the wound, and also get many shots," the victim said.
People living in the area also said that there are herds of wild monkeys who often go down to the roadside area to approach passersby to ask for food. Previously, many people often bought fruits and candies for monkeys, but now it has decreased. Recently, some monkeys have shown signs of aggression, may snatch things, and have signs of attacking when not responded to. There have been some cases of minor scratches due to not reacting in time.

The fact that the wild monkeys show signs of aggression has affected the lives of people and exercisers in the area. Therefore, it is proposed that functional agencies soon have appropriate measures to resolve it.
Local authorities also said that they have initially advised people not to feed monkeys; limit carrying bags and food when walking through this area. At the same time, they requested functional units to soon survey and propose solutions to ensure community safety.
