More than 100km from the mainland, the activities of the Trade Union in Phu Quy Special Zone are taking place enthusiastically and effectively.
The outstanding mark of the trade union here is the work of propagating and mobilizing union members to strictly comply with the law and not to violate illegal fishing (IUU).
This is a testament to the role and position of the trade union organization on the outpost island of Lam Dong province.
Currently, the Phu Quy Special Zone Trade Union manages 8 grassroots trade unions and 2 trade unions with 381 union members.
Of which, the Tam Thanh Seafood Exploitation Union has 115 union members, divided into 16 groups of boats operating regularly at sea.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Tam - Chairman of the Phu Quy Special Zone Trade Union said that in the past time, the trade union has coordinated with the border to propagate and disseminate laws on seafood exploitation and IUU fishing prevention.
The Chairman of the Tam Thanh Seafood Exploitation Union said that the work of mobilizing union members not to exploit seafood with explosives, toxic substances and violating foreign sovereignty has been regularly implemented.
100% of union members and ship owners have signed a commitment not to violate foreign waters. Thanks to that, up to now, no fishing boat in the union has violated.

This is a positive result, contributing to a strong change in awareness and compliance with the law of union members and fishermen, and the whole country implementing the European Commission's recommendation to soon remove the yellow card for Vietnamese seafood.
The boat groups in the union when fishing offshore are still united, helping each other and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
The attention of the Phu Quy Special Zone Trade Union has strengthened union members' trust in the trade union organization. Thereby, creating a strength of solidarity so that each ship sailing at sea not only makes a living but also consciously maintains a sustainable fishing profession.
