On December 19, at Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 4 projects to serve APEC 2027, combined online with the central bridge in Hanoi City to directly hold the groundbreaking ceremony, inauguration, and technical traffic opening ceremony for works and projects across the country, welcoming the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang; Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung; and representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors and Sun Group Group attended.
4 key projects serving APEC 2027 with a total investment of more than 14,800 billion VND. In particular, the Urban Railway Line 1 project, section 1, has a route length of about 17.7 km, with a total investment of about VND9,000 billion, contributing to gradually forming a modern and convenient public transport system, reducing traffic pressure and protecting the urban environment of Phu Quoc.
The Duong Dong 2 Reservoir Investment Project, with a scale of about 7.5 million m3, water supply capacity of about 49,500 m3/day and night, total investment of about VND2,950 billion, aims to ensure water security, serving the sustainable socio-economic development of the special zone.
2 resettlement projects include: Ham Ninh Resettlement Area Project, with a scale of 103 hectares, creating over 2,000 resettlement plots and apartment land funds of about 2,500 apartments, with a total investment of about VND 1,200 billion; Cua Can Resettlement Area Project, with a scale of about 98.2 hectares, creating over 3,600 resettlement plots, with a total investment of about VND 1,650 billion, meeting the requirements of settlement, stabilizing people's lives, serving the site clearance of key projects, contributing to the completion of the social infrastructure system, ensuring social security and sustainable urban development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said: investing in works and projects is not only to meet the requirements of organizing a particularly important foreign event of the country, but also an opportunity for Phu Quoc to continue to renovate and upgrade urban quality, protect landscape and environment; build Phu Quoc into a green, modern, civilized tourist city worthy of its position as a regional and international tourism and resort center.
