On December 4, the leader of Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang) said that functional forces and electricity are urgently focusing all resources to quickly fix the problem of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable.
An Giang Power Company has mobilized all human and material resources and organized overtime work, focusing on urgently fixing the problem as soon as possible.
Southern Power Corporation has established a team led by Mr. Lam Xuan Tuan - Deputy General Director to handle the work of fixing the incident at the scene.
After consulting with specialized units and companies with experience, construction capacity, and 110kV underground cable handling across the country, Southern Power Corporation agreed on a plan to handle temporary power supply in the shortest time to restore power supply to Phu Quoc special area.
Specifically, conduct sand blowing and pulling underground cables off the water surface; Cut the underground cables at the incident site; erect 5 temporary pillars and pull the 110kV floating line from the shore to the incident underground cable location.
At the end of the pillar, a temporary line will be connected with a 110kV underground cable towards Phu Quoc (after cutting off the damaged section and handling, installing the cable head, testing, and comparing). The remaining underground cable will be cleaned and sealed for safety. The Company is expected to re-implement undergrounding at an appropriate time.
Currently, 100% of customers in Phu Quoc special area have been restored to power after underground cable incidents, of which about 6,100 customers in the North of Phu Quoc have been supplied with alternating power.
Phu Quoc Special Zone is supplied with electricity from two sources: 110kV line 173 Ha Tien - 172 Phu Quoc (with 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable section) to supply electricity to the 110kV Phu Quoc transformer station and the 220kV Kien Binh - Phu Quoc line is temporarily supplying 110kV electricity to the 110kV Nam Phu Quoc transformer station. These two sources have not been connected to a 110kV Circular in Phu Quoc special zone, so when one of these two sources of supply fails, it will greatly affect the power supply.
As soon as the incident occurred, the power company carried out operations to transfer part of the load from the 110 kV Phu Quoc transformer station to receive the power of the 110 kV Nam Phu Quoc transformer station via a 22 kV line to restore power supply to the maximum possible capacity for the people. Phu Quoc Power Management Team has mobilized large customers with self-powered generators (300 customer stations) to take advantage of the remaining capacity to serve households.
Implement the dismissal of specialized customer loads, prioritize power supply to important loads such as: administrative centers, hospitals, fire prevention and fighting, telecommunication centers, water supply, night markets, Phu Quoc international airport construction service areas and daily loads. Implement alternating power cuts between transmission lines to ensure the most customer service, meeting the essential needs of the people.

The total number of mobile generators mobilized to date has reached 20, with a power generation of about 3.5MW. These generators provide alternating power to public transformer stations far from the source to improve voltage.
As reported, at 1:45 p.m. on November 29, 2025, a 110kV 173 Ha Tien - 172 Phu Quoc power line broke out, affecting the power supply to Phu Quoc special area.
According to initial records, Thuan Thanh KG Construction Design Consulting Co., Ltd. is constructing a railing in the safety corridor of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cableline on the Ha Tien coast. The forced strengthening of the steel piles on theca floor was the cause of the problem in the 110kV underground cable section supplying electricity to Phu Quoc special area.
