On the morning of August 19, at the intersection with Truong Son Dong road (Dak Po commune), Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee started the component project 2, section Km22+000 - Km90+000, belonging to the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway construction investment project, to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2026) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026).

The project has a total investment of about 27,576 billion VND, a length of more than 68km, passing through Binh Phu, Binh Khe, Ya Hoi, Dak Po, Hra communes and An Binh ward, invested by the Gia Lai Provincial Traffic and Civil Works Project Management Board.
Shortening the forest-sea journey
National Highway 19 is currently the main traffic route connecting the east and west of Gia Lai province. Although it has been upgraded, the route still has many winding mountain passes, limited visibility, narrow road surfaces, and potential risks of traffic unsafety.
Currently, the travel time from Quy Nhon to Pleiku takes about 3-4 hours. When completed, the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway will shorten travel time by about half, reducing 40-50% of costs and transportation time.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway is an important east-west traffic axis, connecting the South Central Coast region with the Central Highlands and opening up a quick access route from the highlands to the seaport.
The route is expected to create new development momentum, strengthen regional linkages and connect the Central Highlands region with economic centers and seaports.
The Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway construction investment project has a total investment of 43,734 billion VND, divided into 3 component projects.
In which, Component 1 project is 22km long, with a total investment of about 6,989 billion VND; Component 2 project is 68km long, with a total investment of about 27,576 billion VND; Component 3 project is 35km long, with a total investment of about 9,169 billion VND.

Component projects 1 and 3 were started on December 19, 2025. To date, more than 97% of the construction site has been handed over to these 2 projects, and contractors are focusing on implementation, ensuring the set schedule.
Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang emphasized that this is one of the key national transport projects, which is of great significance in strengthening inter-regional connectivity, promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region in general and Gia Lai province in particular.
The Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested the investor and related units to closely coordinate, implement the project on schedule, and put the project into operation according to the plan to serve the socio-economic development of the locality.
Overcoming difficulties to ensure progress
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan said that component project 2 passes through areas with complex terrain and geology, especially in the An Khe pass area.

The project also goes through many areas of natural forest. To date, procedures related to changing forest use purposes are still being completed.
To ensure the quality, progress and efficiency of the project, the Deputy Minister of Construction requested contractors to develop overall and detailed plans, focus maximum resources, and proactively overcome difficulties in construction conditions.
Units need to carefully prepare sources of materials, materials, equipment, machinery and manpower to organize construction immediately when conditions are sufficient.
The Deputy Minister requested the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee to direct localities to accelerate site clearance, complete procedures related to changing the land use purpose of natural forests, material mines and waste dumps.

At the same time, the province needs to continue to complete the planning and invest in a transportation system connecting to the expressway to promote the efficiency of the project after it is put into operation.
On the same day, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee also organized the commencement of 4 other projects, including the Adaptive Integrated Development project, with a total investment of 2,660 billion VND; the Le Thanh Ton road construction investment project, with a total investment of about 160 billion VND; Tay Giang Industrial Park project, with a total investment of nearly 1,798 billion VND; the Battery and Pallet pellet factory project, with a total investment of more than 461 billion VND.
