On the afternoon of May 12, Mr. Nguyen Canh Toan, Chairman of the People's Committee cum Head of the Steering Committee 389 of Lang Son province, chaired a meeting to assess the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first months of the year.
Accordingly, thanks to strict control measures, the violation situation in the area is controlled, without allowing hotspots to arise.
In the past 4 months, functional forces have handled 1,313 cases of violations related to smuggling, counterfeit goods, and prohibited goods (down more than 13% compared to the same period); of which administrative fines were imposed on 1,218 cases.
The total amount collected from administrative fines reached more than 31.9 billion VND; the value of confiscated exhibits is estimated at more than 22.7 billion VND. Functional agencies have also prosecuted 125 cases with 248 violators.
Also at the meeting, the province issued a draft Plan and the establishment of an inter-sectoral working group to implement Official Dispatch No. 38/CT-TTg dated May 5 of the Prime Minister on drastically fighting and handling acts of intellectual property rights infringement.
Although the number of violations has decreased, Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Canh Toan assessed that the smuggling situation still contains many risks.
He requested forces in the coming time to conduct focused inspections, especially targeting e-commerce, digital platform business and intellectual property infringement goods. Campaigns must be carried out continuously and non-stop.
Regarding task assignment, the Border Guard and Customs of Region VI are responsible for tightening border and border gate management, preventing illegal goods and acts of taking advantage of import and export policies.
Domestically, the Police and Market Management focus on cracking down on smuggled, counterfeit and unknown origin goods.
Provincial leaders also requested local press and television agencies to promote propaganda about the harms of counterfeit goods; and at the same time emphasized the responsibility of heads in communes and wards in local management.
