Quang Tri - The provincial Department of Home Affairs said that there is not enough basis to determine the identity from the signs carved on the relics buried with the remains of martyrs discovered in Xa Re village.

On June 1, the Martyrs' Remains Collection Team of Economic - Defense Group 337 (Military Region 4) said that it had discovered 2 more martyrs' remains in Xa Re village (Huong Tan commune, Huong Hoa district) while expanding the search area.

Accordingly, the two remains were discovered at a depth of about 0.8 to 1m, along with many relics such as raincoats, chess, teeth and bones that were still quite intact. This is an area that has experienced fierce fighting during the war, where units of Division 304, Army Corps 2 participated in the fight on the Khe Sanh front.

From May 19 to now, in this area, the Collection Team has discovered and collected a total of 8 martyrs' remains. Notably, among the accompanying relics, there are three items engraved with strange symbols: a concrete vases engraved with the words "PHET" or "PHET", a small hand-carried aluminum plaque with the words "SH-2-526" and a hand-carried plastic plaque with the name "SH-18-47X".

The representative of the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri said that relics with symbols were found not sufficient to identify the identities of the martyrs. Accordingly, the words on the tone are not fully full name, so it is not possible to conduct the lookup or verification area. The symbols starting with "SH" do not coincide with any military number or any unit signal in the current database.

This could be an internal encryption or a unique symbol of each combat unit in the past. We hope to receive support from veterans who have fought on the Khe Sanh front to decode these symbols, said the leader of the Department of Home Affairs.

In addition to the three relics above, the Assembly Team also found two penicillin bottles that had been sent to the Criminal Techniques Department - Quang Tri Provincial Police for examination, but could not collect any information. The greatest hope is now in a bone sample of the martyr that has been sent to the Department of Home Affairs for further DNA examination.

The remains of martyrs after the collection are being cared for and the incense is being carefully incense at the Huong Hoa District spiritual and Cultural Area.

The collection of the remains of martyrs of Economic-Defense delegation 337 called on officials and soldiers who used to fight at the Khe Sanh Front, or people with information related to the symbol "SH-2-526", "SH-18-47X" or the name "Phuc/Phat", contact the phone number 0353.758.084 (Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Phu-Captain of the Martyrs' Collection Team)
