The noon of April 30, 1975 - the moment of ending the war and unifying the country - is an unforgettable memory for the Hero of the People's Armed Forces Pham Huy Nghe - former fighter of Company 1, Battalion 19, Special Forces Regiment 116 in the Southeast region.
Mr. Pham Huy Nghe was born in 1954 in Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province, currently living in Ea Na commune, Krong Ana district, Dak Lak province. At the age of 16, he volunteered to join the army and was assigned to Division 305, Special Forces Command. After a training course in Suoi Hai (Ba Vi), in early 1971, he and his teammates traveled for more than 4 months to cross Truong Son into the Southeast region. Notably, during the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, he and Captain Pham Duy Do attacked the Liberation Palace.
At around 10am on April 30, we divided up to dig up the basements, forcing all the soldiers to hide and gather on the field. After that, the task force arrested President Duong Van Minh and the cabinet, handing him over to the delegation of cadres to take over" - Mr. Nghe recalled with deep eyes.
He added, he was assigned by Captain Pham Duy Do to stand guard, internal disbelief, foreign enterprises, who resisted to shoot. Inside is President Duong Van Minh and the Government of the Government of the Republic of Vietnam. A few minutes later, the company leader led our cadres to the war. Everything happened very quickly, but that moment - standing upstairs before the historic moment - was the deepest memory of his army's life, even though it only took a few minutes.
After the complete liberation of the South and national reunification, Mr. Pham Huy Nghe went to the North to start a family. In 1977, he took his wife and children to develop a new economy in Dak Lak province. After that, he was re-enlisted and transferred by his superiors to work as a Political Commissar of the 32nd Army Intelligence - reconnaissance Company, Thai Binh Provincial Military Command. He was then transferred to work in Military Region 3. In 1987, Mr. Pham Huy Nghe was transferred to work at the Dak-Lak Provincial Military Command, holding the position of Deputy Commander of the Krong Ana District Military Command, until retirement in 2003.
Regarding retirement, veteran Pham Huy Nghe has been trusted and loved by the Party Committee and Party members to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Cell of Quynh Ngoc village (Ea Na commune, Krong Ana district, Dak Lak province) since 2005. Thanks to the closeness and understanding of the people of Party Cell Secretary Pham Huy Nghe, the Quynh Ngoc village Party Cell has continuously achieved many titles and is one of the leading villages in Ea Na commune in all aspects.
