Absolutely do not ignore the inspection steps
Tay Yen Border Guard Station (Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard) stationed at the mouth of Cai Lon River adjacent to the sea. Due to the characteristics of the area, on average, every year, tens of thousands of offshore fishing vessels in and outside the province go to sea, returning to Tac Cau port to exchange goods.

Major Nguyen Van Lanh - Head of Kinh Dai Border Control Station - said: "We create the best conditions, fastest, most compact, in accordance with the law to make each sea trip of the people smooth but absolutely not miss any inspection and supervision steps. Resolutely do not allow departure if the ship owner lacks one of the prescribed documents. Strictly review and compare the identity documents of fishermen before going to sea".
Fishermen are united
Thanks to boldly innovating methods, improving legal knowledge, and situation handling skills when going to sea; Compiling propaganda documents with content that arouses love for the profession, love for the sea, and responsibility to protect and regenerate aquatic resources has helped raise awareness and responsibility of fishermen in protecting domestic marine resources, respecting the sovereignty of neighboring countries.
Mr. Huynh Le Quang - Owner of a offshore fishing boat, Rach Gia City - said: "We have been propagandized many times by Border Guard officers about the IUU issue. To exploit effectively, we must rely on experience in fishing at sea and fishing for nets, but absolutely must not go fishing illegally in foreign waters. We have also understood our responsibility, joined hands with the government, and removed the yellow card".
According to Lieutenant Colonel Danh Kieu Tien - Political Commissar of Tay Yen Border Guard Station: Due to the large area, many canals, vehicles, and support tools for patrolling at sea have not been fully equipped, especially vehicles for technical reconnaissance to collect and consolidate evidence.
"Most of the violating vehicles operate outside hundreds of nautical miles away, when receiving information about the violating ship, it will be difficult to identify and prove the violation. Although there are still difficulties, we determined that each comrade must work enthusiastically, have a firm grasp of the area, be able to withstand storms when patrolling at sea, overcome difficulties to complete the task" - Lieutenant Colonel Danh Kieu Tien said.
Before each trip to sea, Border Guard officers require ship owners and ship owners to sign a commitment not to violate foreign waters. This control not only contributes to protecting aquatic resources, maintaining sea and island sovereignty, and strengthening national security, but also helps fishermen feel secure when going out to sea.
