On September 18, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Hoang Minh Hai - Chief of Office of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee - said that after grasping information in the press and social networks reflecting the suspension of operation of Rong May Glass Bridge Tourist Area, the reason is said to be the impact of the construction of the Eden Garden Resort Tourist Area Project, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to establish an inter-sectoral inspection team.
According to Mr. Hai, initially departments and branches have reviewed legal documents and determined that the land use scope of the two projects does not overlap in terms of location, boundary and area.
Inspection on the dossier shows that the 2 projects do not overlap. The inspection team will go on a field trip with the Binh Lu commune government to verify the contents reflecting whether road construction risks affecting the operation of Rong May Glass Bridge Tourist Area or not.
At the same time, the legal documents of the two projects will be reviewed to see if there are any contents that are not guaranteed to propose handling according to their authority," Mr. Hoang Minh Hai said.
Previously, information about the Dragon May Glass Bridge Tourist Area stopping welcoming guests from October 1st received attention and interest from travel businesses as well as tourists.
This is a famous destination in Lai Chau, located at an altitude of 2,200 m above sea level, in the O Quy Ho pass peak area, about 20 km from Sa Pa.
Representatives of Rong May Glass Bridge Tourist Area said that the Adjacent Paradise Garden Resort Tourist Area Project is under construction, posing a risk to the safety of the tourist area. Therefore, the unit plans to temporarily suspend operations for overall consideration and evaluation.
This enterprise also cited the reason that the location of the project preparing for construction is right behind the Dragon May Glass Bridge Tourist Area, which is a place with a steep slope and a high risk of landslides.
It is known that Dragon May Glass Bridge Tourist Area started welcoming visitors from 2019, each year the unit welcomes about 300,000 visitors, of which 80% are international visitors. Revenue is about 200 billion VND/year.
Meanwhile, the Garden of Eden Resort Project is also identified as an important tourism project of the Northwest region with the orientation of developing ecotourism, resorts, commerce and services.
Regarding the feedback related to the two projects, leaders of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee affirmed the province's viewpoint of ensuring a fair investment environment, creating conditions for investors on the basis of complying with legal regulations.
The spokesperson of Lai Chau province emphasized that all investors are equal. The province will create conditions on the basis of ensuring compliance with regulations; in case of violations, "wherever wrong, it will be handled accordingly".
