On June 8, the Department of Health of Lam Dong province said that it had sent an urgent official dispatch to the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones on strengthening the prevention and control of fungal poisoning in the area.
According to the health sector, Lam Dong is entering the rainy season, high humidity conditions create favorable conditions for many natural mushrooms to develop strongly.

This poses a risk of poisoning for people and tourists when arbitrarily harvesting and using mushrooms of unknown origin.
To proactively protect public health, the Department of Health proposes that localities focus on implementing 3 key tasks.
In which, promote propaganda in both Vietnamese and ethnic minority languages, advising people to absolutely not harvest, process or use strange mushrooms, wild mushrooms in nature when the origin and safety level are not clearly identified.

Localities also need to guide people to recognize signs of poisoning such as vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea... and go to the nearest medical facility immediately for emergency care and timely treatment.
In addition, strengthen supervision and grasp the situation in the area; closely coordinate with the health sector in investigating and handling poisoning cases, minimizing damage and preventing deaths.
According to statistics from functional agencies, the Da Lat pine forest area and surrounding areas currently have more than 300 species of mushrooms growing in the rainy season, including edible mushrooms and mushrooms containing dangerous toxins.
Notably, there are about 50 species belonging to the genus Amanita mushrooms - a group of mushrooms containing many extremely toxic species.
Many of these types have shapes similar to chicken egg mushrooms, peacock egg mushrooms or termite mushrooms, so they are very easy to confuse if you do not have professional knowledge.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported: On June 4, Lam Dong General Hospital said it continuously received cases of poisoning due to eating self-harvested mushrooms in the forest.
In just the first 3 days of June 2026, the hospital received 4 people from the same family in Xuan Truong ward, Da Lat hospitalized for treatment due to forest mushroom poisoning.
Many cases are hospitalized in serious condition, requiring prolonged treatment to remove toxins from the body.
