Clarifying the cause of the protective forest fire in Phu Quoc

NGUYÊN ANH |

Kien Giang - Authorities are conducting a scene investigation and clarifying the cause of the protective forest fire in Ganh Dau commune, Phu Quoc city.

On January 12, Mr. Bui Thanh Sang - Head of Phu Quoc Forest Protection Department (Kien Giang) - said that the unit is coordinating with local authorities to conduct a scene investigation and clarify the cause of the protective forest fire in Ganh Dau commune.

According to initial information, on the evening of January 11, people discovered a fire at the top of a mountain in Ganh Dau commune, so they reported it to local authorities to take measures to control the fire.

Mr. Sang also informed that the burned area belongs to the protective forest, including grass, vines and bushes. The estimated damaged area is about 5,000 square meters.

According to a leader of the People's Committee of Ganh Dau commune, the location of the fire was close to a rocky mountain, making it difficult to access and fight the fire, and strong winds caused the fire to spread and scorch the protective forest. It took authorities several hours to control the fire.

Currently, local forces are coordinating with Phu Quoc National Park and the Forest Protection Department to investigate and clarify the cause for handling according to regulations.
