On March 8, information from the People's Committee of Nghia An commune, Kbang district, Gia Lai province said that a sugarcane fire had just occurred in the area with an area of about 6.7 hectares. The incident occurred at around 2:00 p.m. on March 6 at the production area of village 3, Nghia An commune.
After receiving the information, the People's Committee of the commune mobilized forces together with households to use water pumps from production households in this area to pump water to put out the fire.
Many workers cutting the sugarcane near the fire area also quickly created a firebreak, preventing the fire from spreading to other sugarcane fields.
By 3:45 p.m. the same day, the fire was extinguished. According to preliminary statistics, the area of burned sugarcane was about 6.7 hectares of 7 adjacent households. All the burned sugarcane areas were ready for harvest.
Immediately afterwards, the People's Committee of Nghia An commune instructed affected households to proactively contact sugarcane dealers to mobilize workers to quickly harvest all the burned sugarcane, minimizing damage.
At the same time, an investigation is underway to clarify the cause of the fire.
