The contest is organized within the framework of communication activities of the National Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency Use for the period 2019 - 2030 (VNEEP3), and at the same time contributes to implementing the Prime Minister's directions on strengthening energy saving, electricity saving, promoting energy transition and developing rooftop solar power.
Energy saving must become a daily habit
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Dang Hai Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion - said that organizing the contest in an online form not only helps improve interaction, but also creates conditions for the message of energy saving and efficiency to reach more widely, especially to young people - a force that plays an important role in shaping a green lifestyle and spreading positive behaviors to society.
This is a noteworthy point, because energy saving can only create sustainable efficiency when it becomes a self-awareness and regular action. In daily life, saving electricity is not something too far-fetched. It can be turning off electrical appliances when not in use, adjusting the air conditioner to a reasonable level, taking advantage of natural light, choosing energy-saving appliances, periodic equipment maintenance, using rooftop solar power if possible.
Those small actions, if implemented regularly in each family, each agency, school, industrial park, building, will create great effects for the whole society. Conversely, if everyone has the mentality "it's okay to use a little more", the cumulative pressure on the power system will be very large, especially during prolonged heat waves.
Mr. Pham Viet Thach - Deputy Head of the Department of Environment and Sustainable Development, Vietnam Electricity Group - assessed: "Energy saving only truly promotes efficiency when it becomes a regular awareness and action of each agency, business and each citizen. Forming a habit of using energy economically and efficiently not only requires propaganda but also the joint efforts of management agencies, businesses and the community in implementing specific, practical and long-term solutions.
From online contests to behavior change
The online contest "Learning knowledge about energy saving and efficiency use in 2026" takes place from 8:00 AM on June 16 to 12:00 PM on July 20, 2026 on the Electronic Information Page of the National Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency Use, including 5 exams.
2026 is the 5th consecutive year the contest has been held. In the past 3 years, the contest has recorded 406,573 contestants with 623,734 entries. This is a result showing the increasing interest of society in the issue of economical and efficient energy use.
In the context of green transition, energy saving is not only the responsibility of the electricity industry. This is part of a civilized lifestyle, responsible consumption and sustainable development. Each kWh of electricity saved not only helps reduce costs for people and businesses, but also contributes to reducing the pressure of investing in electricity sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring national energy security.
Energy saving requires both awareness, technology, management and appropriate incentive mechanisms. For businesses, energy saving helps reduce production costs and improve competitiveness. For people, electricity saving helps reduce monthly electricity bills and form a green lifestyle. For the nation, energy saving is an important solution for sustainable development.
