On August 20, information from the People's Committee of Lang Son province said that the province has issued a document agreeing in principle to terminate the Quynh Son High-Tech Pig Farm and Nam Huong 2 High-Tech Pig Farm projects.
The Department of Finance is assigned to carry out procedures to terminate the operation of the two projects according to the law on investment. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will resolve related land procedures after the termination decision is issued.
The Nam Huong 2 project is invested by Nam Huong Xanh Joint Stock Company, approved in principle by the Provincial People's Committee in March 2022.
The farm is expected to be built in Nam Huong 2 village, Tan Huong commune, former Bac Son district, on an area of more than 47 hectares.
According to project documents, the farm has a scale of raising 27,000 fattening pigs, expected to release about 54,000 pigs per year. Total investment capital is more than 185 billion VND, including more than 37 billion VND of contributed capital and more than 148 billion VND of borrowed capital.
Quynh Son project proposed by Quynh Son High-Tech Livestock Joint Stock Company in Bac Quynh commune, former Bac Son district.
The two projects were also consulted by local agencies from September 2021.
In April 2025, the Provincial People's Committee determined that both projects were being suspended, requesting investors to take remedial measures.
The recovery time is then set to September 30, 2025; if not met, functional agencies will guide the termination procedure.
At the meeting on January 28, 2026, the Provincial People's Committee said that the implementation of the two projects has arisen many difficulties related to compliance with investment policy decisions, environmental conditions, safe distance from domestic water sources, people's consensus and the risk of complex security and order.
The two investors then agreed to change the land use purpose of the planned farm construction to another field with less environmental impact.
Based on the report of the Department of Finance, the Provincial People's Committee agreed in principle to terminate the two projects mentioned above.
