On the morning of June 29, Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station informed that in the past 3 hours, through satellite image monitoring, lightning positioning data and weather radar, convective cloud areas have developed strongly in the province, causing showers, with moderate to heavy rain in some places accompanied by thunderstorms.
Notably, convective clouds from Tuyen Quang province are continuing to move towards Lao Cai, increasing the possibility of widespread thunderstorms.
It is forecast that from now until the next few hours, showers and thunderstorms will continue to appear in many localities in the province. Some areas at high risk of heavy to very heavy rain include communes and wards such as: Bat Xat, Muong Hum, Y Ty, A Mu Sung, Trinh Tuong, Sa Pa, Ta Phin, Ta Van, Ban Ho, Muong Khuong, Si Ma Cai, Bao Yen, Coc San, Cam Duong, Tang Loong and many other localities.
The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind may occur, causing trees to fall, houses and infrastructure to be damaged, and affecting traffic, production, and people's safety.
Currently, the level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning and hail is determined to be level 1.
People are advised to regularly follow weather forecasts and warnings; limit movement and outdoor activities when there are thunderstorms, and proactively take measures to protect people and property to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
