In the last days of June, being present on Provincial Road 156, reporters recorded that the new road running along the Red River has put on a spacious appearance.
The road surface is paved with beautiful flat asphalt, traffic signs, guardrails, and drainage ditches are installed synchronously. On both sides of the route, many sections have been planted with trees, and the lighting system is being urgently completed.
On the new road, cars and motorbikes circulate smoothly. Unlike the image of a narrow road many years ago, the new traffic route has become a modern connecting axis leading to the Ban Vuoc Border Gate area.

Through observation, most of the main road items have been completed, so people can travel. Currently, construction units mainly focus manpower and equipment at the border bridge construction site across the Red River - the remaining important item of the project.
Mr. Tran Van Tuan, a driver who regularly transports goods on Provincial Road 156, said that the new road makes traffic much more convenient.
Previously, the old road was under construction, so trucks traveled quite hard, especially when avoiding each other or in the rainy season. Now the road is wide, the asphalt surface is flat, so the travel time is shortened, and vehicles run more stably.
We just hope the entire route will be completed soon so that goods transportation and economic development can be promoted," Mr. Tuan shared.

The border bridge project across the Red River and connecting infrastructure is a key project of Lao Cai province, with a total investment of 1,490 billion VND.
The project includes building a border bridge across the Red River, upgrading Provincial Road 156 and connecting roads, and renovating intersections on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway.
According to the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the construction package of the border bridge currently has a realized value of more than 105 billion VND. The contractor has completed the M2 abutment and piers T8, T9 and is focusing on constructing the main span.
Despite facing many difficulties due to complex geological conditions and the impact of floods on the Red River, the units still maintained progress, striving to close the bridge by the end of September and complete the entire project in 2026.

Besides the clear changes in infrastructure, the project still has some bottlenecks in site clearance work.
The Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is coordinating with relevant units to remove these obstacles to soon complete the entire project.
When the border bridge and connecting routes are completed, along the Red River there will be an additional synchronous traffic axis, contributing to improving transport capacity, promoting import and export activities and creating motivation for socio-economic development in the border area.
