The project to renovate and beautify Coc Leu bridge and the area on both sides of the road at the head of Coc Leu bridge was approved by the People's Committee of Lao Cai ward (Lao Cai province) on July 7, 2025.
This project belongs to Group C, with a total investment of 17 billion VND; the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department of Lao Cai Ward is the unit assigned by the People's Committee of this ward as the Project Investor; the Lao Cai - Coc San Construction Investment Project Management Board is the unit representing the investor to manage the project.
According to Lao Dong on August 2, the Coc Leu bridge construction unit is currently repairing and renovating the railings on both sides of the bridge, and repainting this area.
Not far away, at the foot of the bridge, workers are constructing landscape items, paving sidewalks, stone railings, etc.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (a resident of Lao Cai ward, Lao Cai province) shared that the renovation of this Coc Leu bridge across the Red River is a good thing to ensure the strength of the bridge as well as the safety of people and vehicles when traveling here.
"In recent days, we have seen many workers working on the bridge surface. Hopefully, the renovation and construction will be implemented quickly and completed soon so as not to affect people's travel," said Ms. Van.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the Construction Package (including traffic safety items) is undertaken by the Joint Venture of Long Phu Investment and Service Joint Stock Company and Huy Hung One Member Co., Ltd.
This package is worth more than VND15.3 billion from the regular budget of the old Lao Cai city.
According to the Lao Cai - Coc San Construction Investment Project Management Board (representative of the investor), the renovation will include the items of dismantling and reclaiming 16 existing lighting poles; construction of lighting and renovation systems (lighting, source, welcome gate).
Along with that, the winning bidder will paint the bridge; demolish the old sidewalk, newly paved with stone (about 522 m2) on Nguyen Hue Street; demolish the iron railing, replace the stone railing with a length of about 497 m (the starting point connects the existing stone railing, the end point of Coc Leu Bridge) on An Duong Vuong Street.
The implementation period of the Coc Leu Bridge Renovation and Renovation Project and the area on both sides of the approach road of Coc Leu Bridge is 70 days from the date of signing the contract.
To ensure traffic safety during the construction process, the winning bidder will install signs, vehicle barriers, and traffic guidance workers according to regulations.
Coc Leu Bridge across the Red River was first built by the French colonialists in 1907; a new construction began in 2009.
The project has a total investment of over 110 billion VND, and was officially opened to traffic on January 12, 2012.
