On May 16, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just issued Urgent Document No. 3941 to departments, branches, members of the Provincial Civil Defense Command and People's Committees of communes and wards on proactively preventing and responding to extreme weather phenomena.
According to forecasts from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, the weather in the province in the coming time will continue to be complicated, with many dangerous natural disaster patterns such as heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind, risk of flash floods on small streams, landslides...
In particular, from 4:30 PM on May 16, strong convective cloud areas are forecast to cause moderate to heavy rain in many communes and wards in the province such as Gia Hoi, Tan Hop, Khanh Yen, Mu Cang Chai, Van Chan, Nghia Lo, Yen Binh, Tran Yen, Cau Thia and many neighboring areas.

Faced with the risk of unpredictable natural disasters, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, and localities to absolutely not be subjective, closely monitor weather conditions to proactively plan responses according to the "four on-the-spot" motto.
Communes and wards are required to immediately review households living in areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides, and flooding; and be ready with plans to evacuate people and property when necessary.
At the same time, strengthen inspection of underground spillway points, streamsides, key areas, arrange guard forces, plant warning signs, and prevent people and vehicles from passing through when safety is not ensured.
Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee also requested to fully prepare forces, materials, vehicles, and necessities to promptly respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters; prioritize supporting households with houses collapsed, roofs blown off, or heavily damaged, and quickly restore traffic, electricity, communication, and production.
