On September 8, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province said that the province has approved a project to repair damage to the foundation, road surface, drainage system and traffic safety system on National Highway 70, passing through Bao Ai commune.
The project starts at Km39+900 and ends at Km59+000 National Highway 70.
The repaired sections include Km39+900 - Km40+200; Km40+950 - Km41+880; Km43+100 - Km43+850; Km50+000 - Km50+200; Km52+000 - Km52+100; Km53+100 - Km54+298; Km54+432 - Km54+690 and Km58+000 - Km59+000.
The total investment of the project is 28.5 billion VND, from economic career capital for road management and maintenance.
According to the approved plan, the project will focus on overcoming damaged, subsided, protruding, and cracked roadbeds and surfaces; handling sections that are frequently flooded and spreading reinforced asphalt concrete on the road surface.
Notably, the sections Km39+900 - Km40+200 and Km54+000 - Km54+100, which are frequently flooded, will have their road surface elevation raised, while restoring the road surface structure to improve exploitation capacity.
The drainage system has also been repaired and supplemented. Some locations will build load-bearing ditches, extend drainage culverts across the road; take advantage of good works and repair damaged ditch sections.
Along with that, the project supplements and replaces traffic safety systems such as corrugated iron guardrails, signs, reflective nails and road markings. The items are implemented according to current regulations and standards.
The goal of the project is to promptly overcome damages, improve operating conditions, extend the lifespan of the project, ensure traffic safety and maintain the stability of National Highway 70.
The Lao Cai Provincial Department of Construction is assigned to be the investor. The project implementation period is in the period 2026-2027.
