According to the plan, in 2026, the KTTT and cooperative sector in Lao Cai province will continue to maintain its development momentum.
The whole province is estimated to have 1,571 cooperatives, of which 1,259 cooperatives are operating. Average revenue reaches about 1.969 billion VND/cooperative/year, average profit 396 million VND; more than 23,400 regular workers with an average income of 63.2 million VND/person/year.
In addition, Lao Cai is estimated to have 6,278 cooperative groups, mainly operating in the fields of agriculture, forestry, industry - construction, trade and services.
Many cooperatives have shifted from small-scale production to linking with businesses, organizing production associated with processing and consumption according to the value chain.
Production and processing models of cinnamon, Bat Do bamboo shoots, medicinal herbs, tea, specialty rice, animal husbandry, high-tech agriculture and community tourism are creating more jobs and increasing income for members.

In 2027, Lao Cai strives to establish 145 new cooperatives and 485 cooperative groups; 100% of newly established cooperatives organize and operate according to the Cooperative Law and management officials are trained and professionally fostered.
The province sets a target of 62% of operating cooperatives reaching quite good or higher; at least 25% of members working in cooperative management have college or university degrees.
The average income of members and employees in the Cooperative strives to reach 68 million VND/person/year, creating regular jobs for over 25,500 workers.
To realize these goals, Lao Cai will focus on improving management capacity, human resource quality, promoting digital transformation, applying science and technology and supporting cooperatives to develop production according to the value chain.
Along with that, the province strengthens trade promotion, connects cooperatives with businesses and retail systems; supports the development of OCOP products, brand building, protection and exploitation of intellectual property values.
Notably, the province will select at least 3 effectively operating cooperatives to support replication in a modern direction, linking production with the market, linking value chains, improving income for members and adapting to climate change.
Through this, Lao Cai aims to build a substantively developed KTTT and HTX area, becoming a driving force to promote the rural economy, create jobs, increase income and contribute to sustainable socio-economic development.
