Lao Cai reduces 1,297 villages and residential groups after arrangement

Lao Cai - After completing the arrangement, the province still has 1,609 villages and residential groups, a decrease of 1,297 units compared to before.

On July 7, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province said that the arrangement and reorganization of villages and residential groups in the area has been completed according to the plan, ensuring that new units officially operate synchronously from July 1.

Implementing the 2026 arrangement plan, all 99 communes and wards of the province organized to collect people's opinions in the form of issuing phiếus to each household for the draft village and residential group arrangement project.

The results of the opinion poll recorded a high consensus rate. Based on receiving voters' opinions, the People's Committees of communes and wards complete dossiers and submit them to the People's Councils at the same level for approval of resolutions on arranging and reorganizing villages and residential groups.

According to statistics, the whole province has 2,741 villages and residential groups subject to arrangement.

In which, 165 villages and residential groups belonging to special cases have not been arranged at this time to ensure the requirements of local management, maintain stability of the residential community and meet the requirements of national defense and security.

After completing the arrangement, Lao Cai still has 1,609 villages and residential groups, including 1,377 villages and 232 residential groups, a decrease of 1,297 units compared to before, equivalent to a decrease of 44.63%.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the arrangement process was implemented synchronously, in the correct order and procedures, in accordance with the actual conditions of each locality.

Communes and wards have also fully prepared in terms of organizational structure, personnel and facilities for new villages and residential groups to operate stably immediately after establishment.
