On August 21, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Sinh led a working delegation to inspect and direct the supply of construction stone to serve the project to expand the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway.
The working group directly inspected the exploitation and production activities at 7 stone mines for ordinary construction materials, including Khe Ban stone mine, Vo Lao stone mine, stone mines in Ban Cam and Phong Hai stone mine.
Through actual inspection, the working delegation worked with businesses operating and exploiting mines to grasp production capacity, difficulties in the mining process and the ability to meet the material demand for the expressway project.
The Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway expansion project is being urgently implemented by contractors according to the plan. However, during construction, the supply of stone materials, especially the type of stone serving the asphalt concrete layer, is becoming one of the difficulties that needs to be resolved soon.
According to the Northern Expressway Project Management Board, the demand for construction stone for the project from now until the end of 2026 is about 748,000m3.
Ensuring material sources is not only directly related to the construction progress but also affects the completion plan of project items.
The Project Management Board proposed that the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee remove difficulties and obstacles in procedures, and at the same time direct stone mines in the area to prioritize supplying materials to project construction contractors.
At the stone mines, the Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee directly exchanged with businesses about exploitation capacity, current capacity, capacity to increase output as well as problems affecting production activities.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh requested businesses to urgently develop plans to expand scale, improve production capacity, proactively overcome difficulties in the mining process and prioritize the supply of stone materials for the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway expansion project.
According to leaders of Lao Cai province, ensuring material sources for the expressway project is an urgent task in the context that the project is entering the implementation phase with a large construction volume.
Therefore, stone mining enterprises must maximize their existing capacity, and at the same time research solutions to increase capacity and organize reasonable production to meet the material demand according to the project schedule.
In addition, relevant departments and agencies urgently review and propose appropriate mechanisms, creating favorable procedures for stone material mining enterprises to have conditions to expand their scale and improve production capacity from now until the end of 2026.
