Heavy rain causes landslides, two more provincial roads in Lao Cai are cut off

On the morning of August 7, prolonged heavy rain caused many landslides on traffic routes in Lao Cai province, causing provincial road 162 and provincial road 175 to be blocked and cut off, affecting people's travel.

Accordingly, at about 9:30 am, in the area adjacent to Tang Loong on the Quy Xa - Tang Loong route (provincial road 162), a large amount of soil and rock from the positive slope suddenly slid down the road surface, causing complete blockage of the section from Van Ban to Tang Loong.

Immediately after the incident occurred, functional units mobilized machinery, vehicles and personnel to the scene to clear soil and rocks and overcome landslides.

Vehicles are advised to proactively choose other routes, not trying to move through dangerous areas. It is expected that by about 12:00 PM on the same day, provincial road 162 will be basically opened to traffic.

At the same time, at Km26+200 on provincial road 175, the section passing through the Thac Ca 2 Hydropower area in Thac Tien village, Mo Vang commune, soil and rocks from the slope slid down and buried the entire road surface, causing the traffic route to be completely cut off, and all vehicles could not circulate.

Immediately after the landslide occurred, Mo Vang Commune Police deployed forces to stretch ropes, put up warning signs, blockade the scene and prohibit all vehicles from passing to ensure safety.

Functional agencies recommend that people absolutely do not cross barriers, do not gather in landslide areas because the risk of soil and rocks continuing to slide down is still high. People need to proactively choose alternative routes and monitor information from functional agencies before moving.
