On April 29, Lao Cai Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the decision to promote the rank of Colonel and Senior Colonel for People's Police officers in 2026.
Attending the ceremony were Major General Cao Minh Huyen - Director of Lao Cai Provincial Police; along with leaders of professional units and officers who were promoted to ranks in this phase.
Rank promotion is implemented according to Circular No. 24/2026/TT-BCA dated March 11, 2026 of the Minister of Public Security, stipulating the highest rank is colonel or below for officers and non-commissioned officers of the People's Police, based on position, title and training level.
At the ceremony, authorized by the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Lao Cai Provincial Police announced the decision to promote from Senior Colonel to Colonel for 21 officers who are heads of departments; from Lieutenant Colonel to Senior Colonel for 63 officers who are team leaders of professional departments and commune-level police chiefs.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Cao Minh Huyen emphasized that the promotion of ranks is a recognition of the training and contribution process of officers and soldiers; and at the same time sets higher requirements for responsibility in performing the task of protecting national security and ensuring social order and safety.
The Director of Lao Cai Provincial Police requested the officers who were promoted to continue to promote their core roles, maintain political bravery, improve professional qualifications, and successfully complete their tasks, contributing to building a regular, elite, and modern police force.
