Vietnamese workers have the opportunity to work in Australia

On December 24, the Overseas Labor Center (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) organized a recruitment campaign for 30 workers to go to Australia to work in the agricultural sector.

Previously, on October 21, 2024, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Decision No. 1747/QD-BLDTBXH on assigning the Overseas Labor Center to implement the Agreement to support Vietnamese citizens to work in the agricultural sector in Australia.

In the first round, the number of people selected was 30, working in the meat processing industry with long-term contracts (maximum 4 years); 60% men and 40% women.

Vietnamese workers will be paid weekly. All workers will start at level 1 (AUD 26.5734/hour - minimum 38 hours/week). In addition, workers will work overtime when required.

According to the Overseas Labour Centre, workers will be paid a minimum of AUD 300 for airfare from Vietnam to their workplace by their employers; there will be no administrative costs for selection to participate in the programme.

The costs that the employee must pay include: Paying VND 100,000 to the Overseas Employment Support Fund; English language learning costs (if required), food, accommodation and travel costs in Vietnam before departure; travel costs to and from Australia, including from the departure location to the employee's workplace or residence in Australia (minus the minimum payment of AUD 300 from the supporting employer; costs related to ensuring conditions for applying for a temporary work visa, passport, health insurance, health check, X-ray (if required), applying for a criminal record in Vietnam and in Australia; any other costs that need to be paid under: (i) Legal regulations, such as the Fair Work Act 2009; (ii) Current regulations in the industry that may apply; (iii) or Approval by an Australian Government regulatory agency.

Workers who meet the selection conditions submit their application documents. The Overseas Labor Center will review and evaluate the documents. If necessary, a direct interview will be conducted for preliminary selection.

General eligibility criteria for applicants

Be a Vietnamese citizen, residing in Vietnam at the time of submitting the visa application, 21 years of age or older at the time of submitting the visa application; have good physical condition and health.

Skills, qualifications and experience: The employee has the appropriate skills, qualifications and/or work experience required to meet the employer's requirements.

Applicants must achieve the minimum English language test score required for one of the following English language tests: IELTS overall score of 4.0, unless Australian licensing regulations require a higher standard; Pearson Test of English Academe (PTE Academe) - an overall score of at least 30 based on the four components of the test; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) - an overall score of at least 147 based on the four components of the test.

The test must be taken at a registered test centre. No “take home” or online tests will be accepted for English language testing purposes.

The worker is not banned from leaving Vietnam or entering Australia; has never been refused a visa by Australia.

Application deadline is December 24, 2024.
